Afternoon everyone!Just wanted to share an update from the VPI home front.
The past few months have been rough—between personal family matters, health challenges, and the usual trials and tribulations of running a family business while raising three kids, it's been a lot.
Flood update: The VPI House is still nowhere near ready to be used, but progress is moving as smoothly as it can, all things considered. We’ve been working through the damage, salvaging what we can. A lot of record jackets were destroyed, unfortunately, but we’ve been able to save many of the records themselves. Using our MW-1 Cyclone for a deeper clean, we’ve been carefully restoring them. These recovered albums will eventually be made available in an effort to keep the music alive. No record deserves to end up in a dumpster unless it’s truly beyond repair. I recently bought VPI Classic 2 that came with JMW 10.5i tonearm and 140g counter weight. I'm trying to move my Benz Ebony cart that was installed on VPI Scout with JMW 9 to Classic 2. The problem I have is that I can't set desired VTF on JMW 10.5 arm. I have to move counter weight right against azimuth ring to get VTF of only 1.8g while my goal is to set it to 2.1-2.15g. That is what I used to have on JMW 9 and counter was positioned pretty much in middle between azimuth ring and end of the arm's shaft.
Considering that JMW 9 counter weight is 120g I expected that I should be able to achieve desired VTF settings on JMW 10.5 with 140g counter weight. Weight of Benz Ebony is 9.6g as per spec.
Any suggestions?

When I adjust the tone arm to parallel with the platter using the VTA adjustment dial, if I want to increase or decrease the VTA, there is no reference point to mark where I originally set the dial. It goes from 0-90, but when you turn full circle, you lose track of what number you started on.
Also so platform will stick when you are trying to lower it and will finally fall into posisition while lowering it.
How can you use a dial which has no staring or ending point?
