The Audiophile Society |
The following is an email newsletter from the NJ Audiophile Society. We are sharing this on our website in hopes to help broadcast and share this group with other young audiophiles who might be interested.
Next meeting: Sunday, March 17th, 2024, at 1:30 p.m.
The Audiophile Society will conduct this meeting at United Martial Artists Academy,
589 Palmer Avenue, Keansburg, NJ 07734
Doors open at 1:00; food will be served at 1:30.
Yes, it’s on St. Patrick’s Day. And yes, the NJ Audio Society was going to meet at the home of one of their members on this date. A medical issue required that to be postponed, so once again, our friend Mat Weisfeld stepped up and agreed to host a joint meeting of The Audiophile Society and the NJ club at his dojo. It’s a great place for large meetings. Also stepping up: Anthony Chiarella of Specialty Sound and Vision, who sent a gorgeous pair of Audiovector R 8 Arreté speakers ($77k) for the main listening room, and Audiovector R 3 speakers ($12k) in the smaller room upstairs. Audiovector is a Danish company led by the brilliant father/son team of Ole and Mads Klifoth.
The “Walnut Burl Piano” finish on the R 8 Arreté is incredibly beautiful, while the technology is incredibly complex. As Jim Austin of Stereophile wrote: “The Audiovector R 8 Arreté is more complicated than your typical loudspeaker. But what I heard from the R 8s was anything but complicated: It was pure and coherent and easily grasped…. The spatial presentation was quite special, especially the perception of depth. The R 8 Arreté managed this while remaining articulate and rendering concrete, precise images…. There's never a sensation of pent-up energy with these speakers. The R 8 Arretés release their music into the air in a way that seems effortless—and free.”
Mat will supply a VPI HW-40 Black turntable and Audio Research electronics with Nordost cables, and Anthony might surprise us with some additional cool stuff. Want more? There will be vinyl for sale in the middle room at very reasonable prices. Food? Of course, which is why you need to RSVP! Please reply to this email (eatapc@me.com) if you’re planning to come. Remember: This meeting is at the dojo, not the VPI Listening House.
